Hey all!
As we ring in the new year, I want to reflect a little bit, not on how “good” or “bad” my year was, but instead on 2018’s impact on my life.
For me, 2018 was a huge year of learning about myself and the world.
I want to share some of the things I have learned this year. From simple to complex, these are some of my biggest lessons and takeaways:
Stress can make a huge impact on acne. I have always struggled with acne but in different phases, and could never find the right solution. This year I figured out not only what face wash was best for me, but that my face is directly impacted by my stress levels. (my face wash)
You can’t control everything or what others do. Instead of stressing on things you can’t control, it is more beneficial to make efforts to change what you can.
Getting in your head and beating yourself up does more harm than good.
Doing what makes you, your mind, and your body happy really is some of the best medicine.
NYC is my dream home. Traveling there this spring and summer again, I realized that I truly feel at home and happy in NYC. Something about is just meant for me.
Having a support system and people to talk to is extremely important.
Accepting and asking for help is a good skill, and you are not of any less value because you had to accept or ask for help. Sometimes being independent means to be dependent once in a while.
Cooking and baking healthy plant-based foods truly brings me joy. Eating plants and whole foods truly makes my body feel good. Check out my recent blog on a new favorite recipe:)
I was reminded of the true beauty of the arts: dance, music, visual arts, etc.
The world is a beautiful place, and traveling makes me so happy.
I learned to remind myself that I am still a kid.
I found my love for coffee.
Grief is a profound process. It brings a rollercoaster of emotions, but also opens so many opportunities to learn, grow, evolve and become.
Your mind-space can have such a massive impact on your entire day.
Alone time is important for me. It allows me to reflect, gain energy, and feel happy.
Listening to your body is extremely important. You know your body better than anyone else and trusting your instincts even if you don’t like them, is the smarter choice.
Balance is an important part of our lives. When we have imbalance(too much focus on one or a couple things), it can bring increased stress, and a tunnel-vision focus.
The arts are what fill me up and bring some of the most joy in my life. Check out my stickers I have been making!
After going on five college tours, I found my dream school. I gained more direction, and direct motivation for the rest of my journey before college.
Recovering from a surgery is more than just a physical process. It is just as challenging emotionally and mentally, but is allowing me to grow and learn tons. Check out my recovery blog!
Doing your physical therapy post-surgery, not only is important for your physical health, but also your mind and emotions.
Reading for fun can be AMAZING! I haven’t read a book for fun since sixth or seventh grade, but this December I read a book that turned out to be lifechanging. I remembered the joy that reading can bring. I also saw how much you can learn from reading, along with how powerful words can be.
I found my love for hot yoga. Bode hot yoga NYC
Dance will always be a part of my life in some aspect or way.
To not discredit your accomplishments, just because you haven’t reached your end goal yet. Appreciating the growth so far, will get you closer to where you want to be.

2018, thank you for the lessons. You've been one of the most influential years of my life, and while you were extremely challenging and pushed me to my limits, I thank you for the growth and learning you brought.
2019, I can’t wait to see what is in store. I am excited to continue my journey and surrender myself to you, and the growth, experiences, and opportunities that you will bring. Here’s to an amazing year!
I hope you all had a great 2018, and by that it doesn’t have to have been your best or happiest year. Sometimes the growth years are just as important and beautiful in order to bring more happiness and celebration.
I challenge you to look back at your 2018. Acknowledge the memories, and the lessons you had, and allow it to lead you in to 2019 with a positive, hopeful, and ready-to-grow mindset.
2019, lets go!
