ABOUT ME
Megan Bader is a queer dance artist originally from North Carolina, currently based in Mauritius. Her practice continues to evolve internationally following five years of living and freelancing in London, where she worked across performance, choreography, production, and teaching within the contemporary dance landscape.
Trained as a lifelong dancer, Megan works in physically rigorous yet creatively expansive environments. While her early training was rooted in athletic, competitive dance styles, her practice now sits firmly within contemporary dance and is driven by a desire to support artists in taking risks, connecting to vulnerability, and physically articulating stories previously untold.
Her movement practice draws from floorwork, microbatics, partnering, improvisation, and release-based techniques, alongside somatic principles that emphasise internal awareness, breath, and tension versus release. Connectivity — to oneself, to others, and to space — sits at the core of her work.
As a performer, Megan has worked with Evelien Jansen, Alethia Antonia, Ben Wright, James Cousins, among others, and has performed at venues and platforms including Southbank Centre’s Riverstage Dance Festival, Frieze London, The Place Theatre, Dock 11, and Camden People’s Theatre.
Alongside her artistic practice, Megan teaches within the IN.U framework, offering classes and workshops that centre embodied awareness, sustainability, and holistic approaches to movement practice. She has recently participated in Parable Dance’s Mentoring Programme on Inclusive Dance Practice and the Young Choreographer’s Programme at Pavilion Dance South West with Alleyne Dance Company, and is a yoga teacher throuhg her 200HR YTT with Yoga Haven.
